Her presentation is Genealogy in the Digital Age: Leveraging Free Tools to Work Smarter, Not Harder.\n\nWe will explore how genealogists can enhance their research, organization, and writing using a range of free technology tools. Designed for both novice and experienced genealogists who are looking to optimize their efforts without breaking the bank. We will cover four key areas: organization, research, writing, and plotting land deeds, showcasing specific programs, extensions, and apps that can streamline your work and improve efficiency.\Details:\nLinda Debe is a lecturer, writer, and lifelong student with 40 years of genealogy experience. \nShe is affectionately referred to as the Sleepless Genealogist and has a website by the same name. Linda has many genealogy passions, with maps and deeds at the tip of the list, and technology running a close second. Since becoming Microsoft Office certified in Access and Excel, she applies her training to assist others with their genealogy research. Her motto is work smarter, not harder, and using technology allows her to do that. She loves creating spreadsheets to analyze her research. \n\nLinda presents at various library and genealogical society events across the US.\nShe holds an AAS degree in Electronics Technology from the United States Air Force. She is an alum of Pro Gen 54. She expects to graduate from the International Institute for Genealogical Studies in 2026. \n\nLinda is the current Program Chair for the North Hills Genealogists in Pittsburgh and leads their Technology SIG. She is a member of several state and local genealogical societies in the various states she researches in.\n\nHighlights of her speaking engagements:\n\nShe will be a speaker at Rootstech 2026. In 2025, she presented at the UGA Summit of excellence on Native American Rolls, and was a guest lecturer for three IGHR classes in Course 4- Unearthing Your Family’s Past Using Maps. \n\nIn 2024, the Georgia State Archives invited her to speak for their Inaugural Native American Symposium; and she was a course coordinator/lecturer with the Applied Genealogy Institute on Native American Records. \n\nBack in 2021, Linda lectured at RootsTech and had an article published in the Kentucky Blue Grass Roots.\n\n\n\nThis meeting will be held virtually over Zoom.
