Event Description

After a pandemic-related pause, RGS is planning to re-institute research trips for its members to libraries and archives with important genealogy and local history collections.

The first of these trips will be to the Buffalo Central Library on Saturday, 26 October 2024.  The Grosvenor Room of the Library contains a superb collection of material related not only to Buffalo and Erie County but also to other New York counties, states, and foreign countries.  The Grosvenor Room also houses the collections of the Western New York Genealogical Society and the Polish Genealogical Society of New York State.  More details are available at the Central Library's website.  Whether or not you have families who lived in Western New York, you will find material relevant to your research -- and enjoy the company of fellow RGS members.

We will be carpooling to the Library, and the registration form will ask you to indicate if you either need a ride or are able to give a ride to others. 

Lunch will be on your own at one of the restaurants in the area (food and drinks may not be brought into the Library).  Also, any bags, purses, laptop bags, containers, etc.have to be stored in lockers (they are secure; you put in your own code to work them).

  • 8:30 am - Meet at the Meet at Henrietta Plaza on the corner of Jefferson & East Henrietta Road - 1100 W Jefferson Rd, Rochester, NY 14623 
  • 10:00 am - Arrive at the Buffalo Central Library- The Grosvenor Room
  • 4:00 pm - Depart from the Buffalo Central Library- The Grosvenor Room
  • 5:30 pm-Return to the Henrietta Plaza on the corner of Jefferson & East Henrietta Road - 1100 W Jefferson Rd, Rochester, NY 14623

This event is open to paid RGS members only. All attendees must register for this event and complete a waiver/release form.

Carpool Information
  • Meet at Henrietta Plaza on the corner of Jefferson & East Henrietta Road - 1100 W Jefferson Rd, Rochester, NY 14623
    • We will meet on the east end (Dairy Queen) of the parking lot. 
    • Please meet at the Henrietta Plaza by 8:20 am for an 8:30 am departure.

    • The Ellicott Street entrance is closed on the weekends, so you will need to use the Washington Street entrance.
