After a pandemic-related pause, RGS is planning to re-institute research trips for its members to libraries and archives with important genealogy and local history collections.
The first of these trips will be to the Buffalo Central Library on Saturday, 26 October 2024. The Grosvenor Room of the Library contains a superb collection of material related not only to Buffalo and Erie County but also to other New York counties, states, and foreign countries. The Grosvenor Room also houses the collections of the Western New York Genealogical Society and the Polish Genealogical Society of New York State. Whether or not you have families who lived in Western New York, you will find material relevant to your research -- and enjoy the company of fellow RGS members.
We will be carpooling to the Library, and the registration form will ask you to indicate if you either need a ride or are able to give a ride to others.
Lunch will be on your own at one of the restaurants in the area (food and drinks may not be brought into the Library). Also, any bags, purses, laptop bags, containers, etc.have to be stored in lockers (they are secure; you put in your own code to work them).
